Bison Tacos


This is a great recipe for "traditional" American ground tacos.  Taco's are something that are fun to play and experiment with. Round steak marinated, grilled, and diced also makes a great "Street" taco.


1 lb ground bison

1/2 clove garlic, minced

2 TB onion, grated

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp chili powder

16 tortillas or taco shells

1 cup of your favorite taco cheese

1/2 cup chopped onion

2 cups chopped lettuce

1 cup diced tomato

Taco Sauce:

1 cup tomato juice

3 TB Ketchup

1/8 tsp Tabasco

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Heat together all ingredients for taco sauce and set aside.


  • Mix together meat, garlic, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt and chili powder. Brown in skillet with small amounts of oil. Mixture should be moist, keep hot. 
  • Prepare tortillas in your favorite way. Heated, cold, fried or baked.
  • Fill each shell with 1-2 TB of meat mixture and top with cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, and sauce. 
  • Add sour cream, guacamole, and salsa to your liking!
